Lecturer in Neuroscience

Full Time Lecturer with potential for promotion to Assistant Teaching Professor


The BioSciences Department at Rice University is accepting applications for a non-tenure track faculty position to start in the fall semester. The successful candidate will develop lecture and lab courses, assist with undergraduate advising, and coordinate additional educational activities. A Ph.D. in an area that is relevant to teaching neurobiology is required. Rice University is among the top 20 on U.S. News & World Report's list of the best national universities. With a 5 to 1 student/ faculty ratio, and an accomplished, high-quality student body, Rice is a great place to work and teach.


Ph.D. in an area that would support teaching in Neuroscience, with emphasis on cellular and molecular neurobiology. Experience teaching undergraduates is preferred but not required.

Starting Date

August 15, 2017 (start of the fall semester)

Courses may vary with future curriculum changes; main duties will include but are not limited to:

A. Starting Fall 2017: Share teaching responsibilities in existing lecture and laboratory courses
B. Develop and teach a 400 level lecture course in advanced Cell and Molecular Neuroscience to start Spring 2018
C. Develop and teach two lab courses in Cell and Molecular Neuroscience to start Spring and/or Fall 2018
